Dates: Eight Weeks beginning September 14 ending November 2.
Instructor: Claire Thibodeau
Welcome to the world of clay!!! This class is designed to let you try a little bit of everything including pinching, slab and coil building, wheel throwing, and basic surface and glazing techniques. Each week you will learn and build on techniques for working with clay that incorporate the fundamentals of studio practices. Every class will begin with a hand-building or wheel throwing demonstration or surface embellishment technique designed to bring voice to your work. This class is hands on and great for students who want to try a little bit of everything before committing to one specific area of study and is great for beginners! Come prepared to get dirty and make work.
Class fee includes 25 pounds of clay. Additional clay will be available for purchase as needed (All clay prices include firing and glaze materials). A basic tool kit will be needed for this class ($12)… you can either purchase tools now via our store or on the first day of class. You are also welcome to bring your own tools. Classes come with 8 FREE HOURS of Open Studio time to be used during open studio hours that fall within the duration of your class! More details about this on the first day of class.
