Join us in making handmade, functional ceramics. In this class students learn and expand on their skills to throw successfully on the wheel from start to finish. Each class will begin with an in depth wheel demonstration highlighting common problems, solutions, and proper body mechanics. As students practice, they will receive one-on-one guidance and correction at the wheel. We will discuss methods for trimming, techniques for handles, and glazing and surfaces. Whether you want work small or large, make cups, bowls, pitchers, or tea sets, this class will build your confidence on the wheel. This class is hands on. Come prepared to get dirty and make work! While some experience may be helpful this class is all levels.
Class fee includes 25 pounds of clay. Additional clay will be available for purchase as needed (All clay prices include firing and glaze materials). A basic tool kit will be available for purchase on the first day of class for $12. You are also welcome to bring your own tools.
Classes also come with 6 FREE HOURS of Open Studio time to be used during open studio hours that fall within the duration of your class! More details about this on the first day of class.
