CLASS DESCRIPTION

In this two day workshop students will explore ways of using screenprinted newsprint transfers, mono-prints, rice paper underglaze transfers, and custom water slide laser decals to give voice to your pots through imagery and pattern. Forrest will demonstrate how he creates his own custom screens and students will be able to try their hand at screen printing onto newsprint and transferring those images to their tiles. In addition to screenprinting, we will also have pre-made rice paper underglaze transfers available for use and go over different ways to apply them. Students will also learn the ins and outs of laser decals. Laser decals will get applied to glazed ware on day one and fired on Saturday night- students will learn application techniques as well as material and equipment considerations.
This course will have many demonstrations followed by opportunities for students to do hands on exploration of each technique. Students will be provided with enough greenware and glazed tiles to practice and will also be shown demonstrations for how to apply these techniques to more dynamic 3-Dimensional forms. At the end of class student’s practice tiles will be fired and ready for pick up a few weeks after class ends.

Please note a minimum of 4 people is required for most classes to run. If you’ve enrolled and we don’t reach the minimum you will be issued a full refund. If you sign up and then are unable to attend for any reason there are no available refunds or credits unless we can fill your spot with someone on the waitlist, so the sooner you can let us know the better. If we have to fill your spot with someone from the waitlist there is a $20 processing fee to account for our time as well as web fees we can’t recoup. You are welcome to send someone in your stead if you cannot make it, just let us know prior to class so we can update our rosters.
