Skill Level: Level 2. Pre-requisite: You must confidently be able to center 2 pounds of clay and be able to throw basic bowls and cylinders.

CLASS DESCRIPTION
In this two part class students will learn the ins and outs of throwing lidded jars on the wheel.
During week one (July 12) students will be on the wheel throwing and learn about making flange, gallery, and one piece lidded jars. With lidded jars there are a lot of moving parts and we will have conversations and demonstrations about how those parts can work in concert with one another.

During week two (July 19) students will learn both trimming and finishing techniques. We will make attachments, handles, and finials and talk about how those each should function properly to make the jar easy to use. Your instructor will also give a glazing demonstration as glazing techniques are essential for lidded jars and will help you avoid common mistakes in the glaze room that could jeopardize the finished piece.

LOGISTICS
Class fee includes 10 lbs of our in-house clay and firing. You can purchase additional clay if you end up wanting more. You will need a sketchbook or notepad, and a list of tools will be sent prior to class. Your class comes with bisque firing with the opportunity to glaze your own pieces at the conclusion of the class or have us glaze it for you ($5).

CANCELLATION POLICY
If you sign up and then are unable to attend for any reason there are no available refunds or credits unless we can fill your spot with someone on the waitlist, so the sooner you can let us know the better. If we have to fill your spot with someone from the waitlist there is a $15 processing fee to account for our time as well as web fees we can’t recoup. If you have to miss one of your class sessions there are not make up classes for you to attend. Your class comes with open studio hours outside of your class time so you could always speak with your instructor and come in to practice during those times.
Please note a minimum of 4 people is required for most classes to run. If you’ve enrolled and we don’t reach the minimum you will be issued a full refund. If you have questions about our cancellation policy please email us before signing up.
